In order to have a good kickoff for your football game, you will need to learn how to kick a football. This will greatly benefit your team. The only thing that you will need in order to get started is a football.
Set Up The Football
You will need to set the football up for a kickoff. In order to do this you will want to position the football on the tee so that it is perpendicular to the ground, yet slightly at an upward angle towards you.
Set Up A Field Goal Attempt
Now you will want to have your team set up a field goal attempt so that you can score. Get your holder to kneel on the opposite side of the ball from the direction that you will be running. The football's laces should be facing away from you as the ball will be almost perpendicular to the ground yet somewhat angled towards you. Have your holder place the palm of his hand or the tips of his index and middle finger on the top of the football, placing just enough pressure on the ball to hold it into place then take three steps backwards.
Kicking The Football
Decide which foot you are going to use to kick the football with. If you are going to be using your left foot, you will want to take two and a half steps backwards to your right. If you are going to be using your right foot, you will want to take two and a half steps backwards to your left. Now run towards the ball, starting with the foot that you will not be kicking with. Plant your non-kicking leg firmly to the one side of the ball with your foot pointing in the direction that you want the ball to go. Your kicking foot should power through the ball with your top two shoelace holes. Make contact with the ball 1/3 of the way above the bottom of the football. Use your flexibility to follow through on this kick.
