How would I get invloved in Igo?
I used to watch an anime show that had the game and it looked interesting. I also appreciate Japanese games because I like using strategy and critical thinking, such as Sudoku. When traveling I picked up a board at a Japanese store, and they gave me a slip of paper with only definitions of the game (the box is in Japanese and I only have a basic understanding of reading it, they had a trial class at my high school two years ago), and I looked up the basics of the game. but I really want to get with a group of people to learn. Does anyone know a good way for me to accomplish this?

This is the tutorial I used when I first learned Go.
http://senseis.xmp.net/
This is a wiki full of explanations and advice for playing Go. They have a page for beginners and a beginner's study session, which can help you beyond what the interactive tutorial provides.
http://www.gokgs.com/
This is the most popular online Go Server. It can provide you with a place to play Go with other people, and the experience of playing a few games will vastly improve your skills when you are a beginner. Even if your goal is to play with other people in person, KGS is still a good resource for self-improvement, and you'll want to at least get a grasp on basic strategy before you're willing to introduce the game to others.
If you're still in high school or are in college, then you'll want to look into whether a Go club exists at your school. If there is, join it. More experienced Go players already in the club will serve as an excellent resource for learning the game. If you want to learn with a group of other people who are also new to the game alongside you, recruit people into the club when you join.
If there is not a Go club at your school, create one. Generally you'll need a certain number of interested students and a faculty advisor. If you can't gather enough friends and interested classmates, hang posters announcing your intent to create a Go club saying you're looking to create a Go club and use it to arrange a meeting of interested students. Be sure to include on your poster that they don't need any prior experience or knowledge of the game so long as they are interested in learning. (A tip in this case since you won't have any experienced players to show you, and you won't see this on KGS since the scoring is calculated automatically after you mark dead groups. When scoring a game of Go, first remove your opponent's dead groups and add those stones to your captures, then rearrange your opponent's territory so that it is divided into nice, easy to count rectangles, filling in your opponent's territory with your captures as you do this.)
If you are not currently enrolled in a school but still want a group of people to play Go in real life with, things will be more difficult. My only advice in that case is to look to see if there is an existing local club or group for Go players. Maybe if there is not then it might be possible to create one, but I don't know since that really isn't my area of experience.
