Scrapbooking is not only for adults but for kids. It is actually a fun and fulfilling activity. If you are one parent who wishes to spend quality time and bond with your children, then scrapbooking is an adventure that you can always enjoy with your children.
Kids and babies, for one, are great inspirations for every scrapbooker. Parents are always treated with lots of great memories concerning their little angels. Snapshots of daughters and sons are always inspiring to see. Not only that, many famous scrapbook designs are based on children, babies, their great smiles and naughty ways. But what if your kid is bent on doing her own scrapbook page? How are you going to help her?
Here are some great scrapbook page layout ideas that you can do with your kids:
Plan a theme together
Choosing a topic for your layout is easy. Let your kid choose the photo herself. Try to encourage her by presenting a couple of her favorite pics. Help her browse through old albums and let her do the choices.
Buy the corresponding materials
This is another shopping spree but on a different level. After choosing the main picture for your layout, take her to the nearest craft store and introduce her to scrapbooking supplies. Try to coordinate your choices with her favorite accessories or items that she personally likes. Inspire her to think of quality by giving hints on what ribbons, laces or buttons to pick out. Since this is your first project, why don't you start with attractive and colorful items in the form of scrapbooking album, alphabet stickers, fancy-edged scissors, colored pens, glitters and die-cuts? Well, that is one nice idea.
Try Using Starter Kits
Starter Kits are meant to guide beginners on their first scrapbooking task. It is already comprised of the basic items and essentials. Choosing a theme may come across as hard, particularly if your daughter/son cannot seem to identify which pictures to use. Starter kits are also great as they already come with stickers, paper even stamps. Your child can try a bit of everything and see what she likes.
Make room for a work area
This can be their first taste of independence. Providing a table or work area for your kids is also an effective way to motivate their ideas and improve their creativity. By allowing your children to have fun while scrapbooking, you are somewhat allowing them to follow rules and commit mistakes. A work space meant for scrapbooking is also your way of telling them that in it, they can always act as children. They can draw, write, sketch or paint and act as if everything is under their control and responsibility.
Keep everything simple but nice
Either buying starter kits or purchasing relative materials, what matters most is that you introduce the idea of scrapbooking to your children, without putting any pressure or imposing rules on their part. Scrapbooking becomes more fun once you let your kids do the layout. Kindly guide them in terms of photo choices and inspire them to draw or write. Allow them to make their own choices as it is the only way that they can show their personality, likes and dislikes. Imagination varies and kids are all naturals. They are witty, inventive and fun. They are also very easy to work with because of their sunny disposition and their creative minds.
