Does the Whirlwind from Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines have to have line of sight to fire? ?
If not, does this mean I can park it behind mountains, buildings or other large structures and still rain hell on my opponents?
No, it doesn't need line of sight. The rules for firing "indirect" weapons can be found in the 40k rulebook (5th Edition). So, yes, you can park the weapon in cover and drop template death upon your opponents to your heart's content.
Note, however, that the new rules for 5th Ed mean that the Whirlwind can now also engage in a direct (more accurate) fire mode.
