I just sealed my deck a few months ago. Now I want to stain my deck. How should I prepare the wood?
I just sealed my deck three months ago. Now I want to stain the deck. Will I need to strip the old seal so that the wood will absorb the stain? What else should I do to prepare the wood for staining?
You don't seal your deck then stain it. The sealer will prevent any type of pigmented product from penetrating. Deck stain is actually pigmented sealer. I had these same questions a few years ago and found a site with some great information on it. Company is called Restore-A-Deck and they provide good info. I'll link to the site below.
