What colours do I need to paint a skink- warhammer?
would like to start a lizardmen army. Before i buy the skinks what colours do I need. Also can you give me a guide on how to paint them. Also what other army do you suggest.

Personally I wouldn't suggest any other army, Lizardmen are my favourite and one of the most powerful armies in the game if played right.
'Traditionally' Lizardmen are blue (in the same way Orcs are green), with Skinks being a lighter shade than their Saurus and Kroxigor cousins.
I'd suggest starting off with an undercoat of black followed by a base coat of Fenris Grey. Then, in all but the deepest recesses, highlight with a coat of 50/50 mix Ultramarines Blue and Enchanted Blue. Then a highlight of pure enchanted blue followed by a final extreme highlight of 50/50 Enchanted Blue and Ice Blue.
As a contrast colour, you may like to paint their bellies another colour - I'd suggest yellow. For this start with Tau Ochre basecoat over black, then highlight with golden yellow, sunburst yellow and final highlight 50/50 sunburst yellow and bleached bone. You can use a similar scheme on their headcrests too.
