What army should I choose in WH40K?
I have decided to start playing WH40K and I need help deciding what army to play with. I do not want to play as the Space Marines because too many people play with them. I really, really like the Chaos Daemons, they look the coolest. I also really like the Chaos Space Marines. The Tyranids, Necrons, and Dark Eldar are cool too. I would also like an army that is not too hard to paint. The Tau are ok too i guess.
Well, depends, and, Space Marines may be overdone, but doing a different off-codex chapter (Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, etc) you don't look as bad as the rest, ;P.
On the armies, basically, what do you like?
Deepstriking, Close combat majored army, with few units, go Chaos Daemons.
Want the badassery of the Space Marines but not the feel of them? Want a better version of them? (CC/Assault wise) Go Chaos Space Marines.
Necrons are basically the same as SM, refered to MEQ, have little to no variety of units, you can't risk losing under 25% of your Warriors.
Eldar/Dark Eldar, you want to skip for right now, seeing as you're new to this. Either way, whether you're a vet or not in 40k, these armies are difficult to win/play with correctly.
Orks/Tyranids are basically a horde army, outnumber your foe by at the least, 1-3, and tear them apart in assault.
Imperial Guard/Tau, shooting-armies, the Tau is sort of an 'elite' version of the Imperial Guard, you need ALL of your units used right if you want to win (Also, most weapons are longer-ranged than other armies, suck in CC, very powerful anti-tank guns). Imperial guard can go good in either both Shooting & Assault, have a LOT of tanks, & getting a new codex in May.
Look up at the armies more, to see what you want. Oh, and, don't let people convince you into armies, it kills the individualism of 40k,.
