im thinking about playing munchkin can any body answer my Qs about it ?
first can i play with 2 people (me and my equally nerdy room mate) 2 is it verry complicated 3 do i need the board game Munchkin quest to play it and are all those ones like munchkin cthulhu and vampire expantions
1) Yes you can play it with 2 players, I think this is the number I prefer actually because then it's just Screw Your Neighbor and not Gain Up On The Leader which always seems to do poorly for me even when I'm not the leader.
2) It's not really complicated, it's a pretty easy game, but if you haven't played a Table Top RPG before there are some things that are specifically RPG related that you might not "get" right off hand.
Basically you get at the start of your turn a Race and a Class and these give you special bonuses in the game such as being able to knock down a second door, or being able to hold an extra weapon in your tail. You also can get Equipment like Weapons and Armor which add to your Level. Everyone starts out as a Level 1 character and is trying to be the first to kill enough monsters or turn in enough cards to get to Level10. On your turn you kick down the door and if there's a monster behind it you fight it. To fight it you compare your Level to it's Level and if you're greater than it you win. Other players can play weapons to help you or to help the monster but if you beat it you Go Up A Level. It's a really simple game when it comes down to it, but it's sometimes a bit... fiddly when it comes to some of the text on the cards.
3)All you need to play Munchkin is a deck of Munchkin cards. This can be original Munchkin, Munchkin Fu, Munchkin Bites or any of the other Munchkins, including the upcoming Axe Cop Munchkin. If you have more than one Munchkin game you can combine the decks together to make one big crazy game. But it starts to get out of hand if you mix in too many expansions. Decks that have a number in them like Munchkin 2 or Space Munchkin 2 are expansions that require a base game to play.
I hope this has been helpful. Munchkin can be fun in small doses in my opinion, but it can be a lot of fun if you just keep a laid back attitude about it, it's a very competetive game so keep that in mind, it's in the rules to backstab your friends, don't be surprised when that happens.
