When you create your new Death Knight you will notice that there's no talent points to spend. You will probably find this weird and wonder why but there's no need to worry. While doing the quests all around the Ebon Hold they will give you 1-3 talent points per quest. But you should know how to spend the talents to get the best possible damage per second, and therefore leveling faster.
This is what this guide is about, I'll tell you which talents to choose and why.
For starters, I have to say that the Death Knight is one of the best classes with great pets, awesome damage, plate armor and it's just plain fun to level it. The three talent trees where you spend your talent points are the following: Blood, Frost and Unholy.
When you're leveling, you should look for what tree is the best for your play style and increases your leveling speed. This is why I recommend that you use a Blood/Unholy built because this is the best one for leveling. That is of course if you're leveling solo or with a friend, in other words not doing instances.
I'll list some of the best abilities, starting with the Blood tree.
Butchery is just plain awesome for leveling and should always be taken no matter if you decide to go with another build, this is necessary for leveling faster. After that you got some nice talents to increase your damage, after that you will see Rune tap and also Improved Rune Tap. This one is also needed because it will restore your Health Points so that you won't have to eat between fighting mobs. Then there's Vendetta, Mark of Blood, Blood Aura, Blood Worms and Vampiric Blood that's essential to keep your Hit points up. These talents are needed just so that you won't die while leveling.
Hearth Strike, Hysteria, Blood Gordged, Might of Mograine and Dancing Rune Weapon are the best Damage making talents, now you got both high Health Points and High Damage.
The reason why you put some of your talents in the Unholy tree is the improved AoE damage, You'll get 5% extra dodge, reduced CD on Death grip and one of my favorite Death Knight talents, On a Pale Horde, which will decrease your traveling time therefore your leveling time. A con with this is that your stun/fear abilities will be shortened by 20%.
The reason you're not using the Frost tree is simply because it's a tank tree. This is of course what you should use if you're planning on leveling through instances but if you're doing quests/grinding, then Blood/Unholy is far superior.
