If you know me well (which most of you don't) then you will know that I am an avid Lord of The Rings fan. I love Lord of The Rings immensely and I often get comments that I am obsessed and that I need to get over it. I fell in love with Lord of The Rings from the movies and when I got the Extended Edition Box Set last Christmas I was overwhelmed with joy (thanks sis). I am only just now starting to read the books and I am constantly watching either the movie or the making of the movie.
The main reason that I love Lord of The Rings so much is that it is done so excellent. The book is written in such detail and is such an excellent story that you can read it over and over every year and still get something new out of it (and many people do this), and the films are created with such excellence that it brings the battlefields of middle earth completely to life.
The one thing that I have learn about making money and following your dreams comes not from the story of Lord of The Rings, but from the making of Lord of The Rings (both the book and the story). I have learned that whatever you do in life you should do it excellent.
The funny thing about Tolkien (author of Lord of The Rings) is that he actually doubted his ability to tell the story and create the mythology. Because of this doubt he held himself back from creating more works of literature and because of that we are without a great number of incredible tales that could have been told.
So when it comes to making money, do things excellent. Don't do things half asses and end up with a less than average result. Put all your effort into it to create something excellent and above average and then the money will come.
When it comes to blogging do not doubt yourself. Tolkien doubted himself and yet had incredible talent. Because of his doubt he left a smaller legacy than what he could have left.
When it comes to life you need to follow your dreams. Tolkien had a dream to create a mythology that people would take and build upon and because he went after it (even with some doubt in his mind), he achieved this very thing. He has created a mythology that people have taken and built upon and made their own. So when it comes to your dreams you may as well go for it.
Better to go for your dreams and fail trying than the have never tried at all.
