Item Selling
Getting into beta testing is not easy since there will be so many interested beta testers and most developers only accept a handful. Fortunately, you can still profit from playing existing games that involve character creation and items.
Many of these games are MMORPGs where players can embark on a getaway adventure where players fight enemies and collect items along the way. Some of these items are very valuable and can only be obtained by very slim chances.
These items are often very powerful and give players a significant advantage in the game. Because of these rare properties, these items are in high demand and some people would go as far as paying for them. This is where item selling can be profitable. Just be sure to read the rules of the game because some games discourage selling virtual items for real money especially if it involves in-game currency.
Strategy Guide Making
While this is not a direct way to playing online games for profit, certain gamers just have fun by playing games online so they can come up with excellent strategies to help other players. This may not be a reliable method since there are many guides that are available for free.
But if you believe that you are an expert player of a very popular online game that has lots of users, you may be able to sell a few copies of a strategy guide authored by you if you commit some time to make one. World of Warcraft is a perfect example of a game that has so many commercial strategy guides online.
