If you dropped your cell phone in the water, you're not alone. The reality is that the majority of society has seen their cell phone get wet at least once in their lifetime. For many, it's a much more frequent occurrence. With that being said, you probably are wondering what exactly you can do to fix your phone after it has gotten wet.
First and foremost, it is important to accept the realities of getting your cell phone wet. While it may eventually work again, more than likely it will not perform up to the way it once did. However, not all is a loss. It is recommended, though, that you get insurance on your cell phone just in case you are not able to resuscitate it.
Before getting into how you can fix your device after it has gotten wet, it is also important to note that just because the phone got wet does not mean it is damaged. Generally the damage from moisture occurs when the phone itself is turned on, as the moisture seeps into the circuitry, causing it to malfunction.
So you ask, what can be done to fix a wet mobile device. Well, the first thing you should do is take the battery out. This is incredibly important, as the battery gives life and power to the cell phone, and by taking the battery out, you are ensuring that there is no power to the device, preventing greater damage from the moisture.
The second step that you should take in saving your mobile device is drying the phone off completely. Many have suggested putting the phone in sunlight or next to a heater. You also can simply wipe it off with a towel or cloth. One thing you should not do is put the cell phone in an oven or microwave, as this can be very hazardous and even cause an explosion.
The third step that you should do is place the phone in alcohol. While this may seem strange, its actually important, as alcohol serves as a dissolving agent. It will get rid of the water that is in your phone while evaporating itself.
Lastly, as suggested in the second step, continue to heat your phone up. It is important, however, that you are very careful in doing this step.
Finally, place the phone in a sealed bag of dry rice. The rice will serve to dry out the cell phone. I have had many customers come in extremely happy with these tips. While it may seem strange to put your phone in dry rice, it actually serves as an excellent mobile device life-saver.
