How do I prepare for a dungeons and dragons night?
Me and 3 other of my friends decided to start playing dungeons and dragons but we have no characters or have ever played a game of it, but we are willing to learn. So anyway thursday was decided to be our D&D night once we get started and my house is going to going to be our first location. I am not the DM but I need tips to make my guests comfortable, we are only using one set of dice d4, d6, d8, d12 and a d20, should I go out and buy some more?
I have a pretty big table that we are going to be using and I have viynl battle mat but we are not using miniatures. same question as before. So does anyone have a guide of how to prepare for this night?
If anyone is wondering we are playing dungeons and dragons 4th edition.
YES, you will def need WAAY more dice, to to have the following per person
2-D4s
4-D6s
1-D8
2-D10s (each a diff color for percentile reasons)
1-D12
1-D20
then add some more on a case by case basis (I.e) arcane user will need A LOT of dice
to get the above numbers i mention is around 9-12 ish dollars depending on where you live (used to be 4.99 back when i bought my dice and that for a non basic dice set)
you'll need scrap paper as well, an unsued notebook OR even note cards to write thing down that your gonna need to remmber or if your a spell caster for the spells you are preparing/have used.
minutaures are not needed, but now a days D&D is no RULE centric try to have something to represent your charcaters, pennies, dimes or even legos work, this is moslty to help you with all teh dman rule son facing and teh like.
bring soem food and drinks to teh sessiona s well, but try not to spill anythign LOL the vinyl won;t be much of problem but if your char sheet has a HUGE pepsi staij on it well, you might not be able to read what you wrote down.
you gonan need pencisl and erasures for sure, fo rme I got to teh dollar store and buy a 1 pack of erasreu (you get 6 big erasure and liek 12 fo the ones you put on teh end of your penciels so good deal) and the 20 pack of pencisl there, watch out ive had up to as many as 3 of them be fualty of some sort, anyways 17 out of 20 is still a good deal for a buck.
and last but certian;ly teh most important
