The weather is getting nicer and the kids will be wanting to be outdoors all the time and they will need some way to let out all of that bottled up energy that they have been storing up over the winter.
One of the most fun and safe games that your children are guaranteed to want to play all spring and summer long is cornhole. A safe alternative for children instead of letting them play the grownups horseshoes. The thought of a child throwing a metal object anywhere near my head is scary.
Just about anyone can play this game, young or old. A cornhole bag is usually filled with corn or synthetic plastic beads so even if it hit you from across the yard it probably wouldn't hurt too much so cornhole is relatively safe and a blast to play.
Once you see how much fun your kids have with this game you will want to join in on the action right along with your kids. What a great opportunity to get in that quality family fun time. You can get cornhole sets with your favorite Nascar drivers or your favorite NCAA college team on them. If you want something more for the kids their is an American flag cornhole set that any kid is sure to love.
The rules to play cornhole are pretty easy to learn. There are two boards that are usually 2 feet by 4 feet but a little smaller in some cases depending on if they are made from all wood or not.
The boards are placed 27 feet apart with the fronts facing each other for adults and of course closer for children, you can be the judge on the best distance for your kids. There will be a pitchers box, 3'x 4' on the sides of the cornhole boards. Cornhole players have to stay in the pitcher's box when pitching their bags.
The cornhole rules say that if any of the bags land anywhere besides the board those shall not be counted in the scores. Players get 3 points for each cornhole bag that goes in the hole and 1 point if the bag lands on the board but is not touching the ground. Whoever gets to 21 first wins but if both teams get 21 for a tie then the two teams play innings until one of the teams is ahead and wins.
You can win by what are called skunks. If one team scores 7 points in an inning before the other team can score any the game is over. The team with 7 points wins the whole match.
Once you get the hang of it you will find that cornhole is a really fun and easy game to play with friends and family. Your kids will have so much fun playing cornhole and it provides hours of entertainment whether it is spring, summer or fall.
