Using Photoshop CS2, why can I fill my rectangle but not my circle? (pics attached)?
I just started playing around with my very old version of photoshop and I'm trying to make a Chinese chessboard. I'm having issues making the wooden playing pieces; I can't seem to fill them with a wooden texture picture because for some reason, I can't Edit->Fill them--it's grayed out-- though I can Edit->Fill rectangles/squares.
Can someone please help me out?

Could people who answer run the process step-by-step for me?
You have two different things going on there - your circle is a custom shape layer and your rectangle is a marquee selection.
Per the previous post - you can use layer effects to fill the circle with your wood texture (in which case it is probably best to also create the rectangle with the shape tool and do the same effect). Without rendering/rasterizing the shape layer, that is the way to fill it.
Or, if you want to continue working the way you are with the rectangle, pull down the marquee tool, select elliptical (instead of rectangular) and draw a circle that way - then you can fill it the way you've been filling the rectangle.
