Do you like imagining yourself as a specialist that would wipe out a spreading epidemic in large areas of the country or regions around the globe? Then the Pandemic Board Game is for you. And, what is also good about this board game is that it is a game where players cooperate with each other and not to compete against each other.
The game is based on a premise that there are four viruses fictionally affecting the world and there are five specialists working together to solve and heal people in the affected regions. These specialists are dispatcher, medic, scientist, researcher, and operations expert. But, you may just have two to four players to play the board game.
Interconnected cities on the world map appear on the board and there are two decks of cards, Player cards and Infection cards. Player card has city name and includes special events cards and epidemic cards. Special events cards are beneficial activities and epidemic cards are for treating the virus. Infection cards are virus cards with city name like as in the board and the type of virus affecting the city. Specialists have to decide together how to cure the cities which is only for the sake of fun in the Pandemic Board Game.
Cubes are used to determine the extent of the spreading virus in a city and fewer cubes mean a treatment has been discovered resulting to a cure. As the team works to contain the four viruses spreading all around, the members or players should avoid getting more cubes into the city or they lose in that city as the virus is said to be pandemic or has gone uncontrollable.
Game over for the team happens and it means that the players lost to the outbreaks of viruses when more than 7 outbreaks occur, no more cubes left which means that there have been widespread infections, and there are no longer Player cards on the deck in this Pandemic Board Game.
Team wins when the players found a cure for all the diseases. It happens when the team was able to coordinate well in establishing the research lab on the city most affected in a systematic manner. This means that the movement or transfer of the team to affected areas has been effective to interconnect cities rather than a city or cities become far apart from the cities already healed. The Pandemic Board Game is for players who love to diagnose a problem by careful planning and coordination.
