It is now a common known fact that wooden furniture is sensitive to climatic conditions and can cause shrinkage and cracks if not cared for properly. At Chitra Handicrafts we use finest and most rugged quality rosewood to create our exotic range of furniture.
Although the Rosewood furniture is Kiln dried and our designs allow for wood movement, maintenance would still be required. It is worth noting that the finish of the wood and not the type of wood determines how to care for it and clean it. It also helps in determining how you can repair the damage, if any, caused to your furniture. So do keep in mind the kind of finish that has been used in your wooden furniture. Finishes may be soft (oiled) or hard (lacquer, shellac, varnish or polyurethane) or painted.
Once the finish is determined you need to follow proper procedures to take care of it. If your Rosewood sofa or any other rosewood furniture is exposed to excessive dryness, dampness, heat, cold it can damage your wooden furniture. Color of the wood can change is it is exposed to direct sunlight. It is also advised that rubber/ plastic materials should be kept away from your rosewood sofa. All wooden furniture are prone to expansion and contraction when there is a change in the temperature and it does take a little while for it to settle in the humidity of your home. Here we list down some of the ways in which you can keep your rosewood sofa shinning and retain its beauty.
• Polishing your rosewood sofa:
It is advised that you regularly polish your rosewood sofa or your rosewood furniture to retain its color and shine.
• Avoid direct exposure to heat:
Avoid placing your rosewood sofa or other rosewood furniture too close to radiators, fireplaces or in direct sunlight. Any direct exposure to sustained heat may cause excessive damage or cracking.
• Don't use water to clean:
Gently clean your rosewood sofa / rosewood furniture with a soft damp cloth. It is advised not to use water to clean your wooden furniture as it could damage the finish of your furniture. You can also use vacuum cleaner with a brush to remove dust from the surface and avoid dust accumulation
• No contact with extreme hot / cold surface:
It is important not to allow hot surfaces to come into contact with your furniture for long periods of time as this will mark the surface.
