Season 10 of American Idol is just around the corner and finally the fans of the show can breathe a sigh of relief as the new judges for the season are named. There have been many changes since the final late in May of this year with the anticipated exit of Simon Cowell who is moving on to bring his latest hit of the United Kingdom, Xfactor, across the pond to the United States. There has been a great deal of speculation regarding who his replacement would be. Amidst this drama, two other judges have left the show as well. Kara DioGuardi and Ellen Degeneres have both left the show during the summer with Kara being fired and Ellen making the decision not to return for a second season.
The rumor milled swirled all summer to long as many speculations were tossed around about who would be joining Randy Jackson, the only original judge still on the show, for the latest season of AI along with long time host Ryan Seacrest. One of the most speculated and talked about of the possible judges was Jennifer Lopez. It was speculated that she was to take the female judges spot but was asking for too money for the producers to hire her. Fortunately for all, an agreement was reached and J-Lo is now cast as a judge. Many fans of the show are happy as they feel she is bringing a realistic viewpoint to the contestants while still having the down home personality to not to be critical.
Steven Tyler, of Aerosmith fame, is the final judge as the panel is trimming back to three judges this season as opposed to the four that were present in the last two. This a huge boost to the Idol judges as Mr. Tyler has been an institution in the music industry since the early 70's and is offering a rock and roll presence that can compliment the funk of Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez.
One final comeback of the show is the return of producer Nigel Lythgoe who wants to bring back the original format where real stars are found that can sell records. Mr. Lythgoe was absent for two seasons while he worked on his pet project So You Think You Can Dance, which is also gearing up for a new season after the finale of American Idol next spring.
